Tawfiq al-Sayeg
Sheikh Tawfiq bin Saeed al-Sayeg was born in 1974 in Asmara, Eritrea, and moved to Saudi Arabia in childhood. He memorized the Quran and earned a bachelors degree in Sharia from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University and a masters degree from Umm al-Qura University in Mecca. He studied under Sheikh Muhammad Al-Uthaymeen, served as imam and khateeb at Al-Lami Mosque in Jeddah, and now heads the Sheikh Faleh Al-Thani Quran Award committee in Doha after acquiring Bahraini citizenship.
